We saw three countries in a day!

Our last day in Copenhagen started with a dilemma; where to store our luggage for our 1045pm flight to Bergen, Norway. I had been wanting to do a tour of a castle or two and Joe seemed interested in the "Hamlet" castle, so I found a royal castle tour!!  It included a bus, three stops and as we were able to confirm, a small area on the bus for luggage!!

We took a cab over to the stop armed with our luggage(as my up handle no longer goes up, luggage handling and not been easy) and boarded the bus! 

The first castle was Kronburg Slot, which was Frederick the 2nd(all royals I didn't know until today)'s gift to his new wife Sophie(he was supposed to marry her sister, but when he saw them both for the first time he instantly fell in love with the 14 year old girl).  It was also the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet, which was historically inaccurate.  While Hamlet likely existed, he would not have lived in North Zealand where the castle was but actually in Jutland to the west.  The setting itself was pretty but inside the castle was fairly bare. They explained that both there were lots of fires(Denmark's folly-not cleaning chimneys) and that this was not a permanent residence and therefore they brought furniture and tapestries each time they traveled.

We stopped at a palace, that is still functioning for the current queen. We couldn't go in. Joe bought us ice creams.

The last castle was built by Frederick's heir(I think).  The guy who owns Carlsberg beer is(was?) a great endower of the arts and paid to bring this castle back to its original glory. It was ornate, and beautiful.  I took so many pictures!!

When we finished we had our luggage and  5ish hours to our next flight. We stopped for another delicious hot dog and was able to hole up at a coffee shop for a while. We then headed to the airport.

We are currently waiting for our flight to Bergen, Norway. So we woke up in Copenhagen, when we got to Kronburg slot we were able to see Sweden(and Joe's phone even located him in sweden) and at the end of our flight we will be in Norway. So we will see three countries today(except we land a bit after midnight, it's close enough!)
