Well we saw pest!!

Buda however is still a complete mystery.

We headed out today around 10am!!  Earliest we have started so far this trip!  Budapest is actually a combination of 2 separate cities; buda and pest. Our goal was to do the great synagogue and parliament in lest and then castle hill in buda.  We took public transportation and headed to pest which was a bus and Metro away from our hotel.

We headed first to the great synagogue but found a beautiful neoclassical building that wound up being the Hungary history museum. I liked it so much I was even slower than dad. Especially in the archaeological part. I love me some archaeology. Dad started not to feel well however so he took a bit of a rest on one of the couches. The museum spanned homo erectus to the 1990s.

We then found the great synagogue, the largest in Europe. It was by far the most expensive and least comprehensive thing we've done so far except auschwitz-birkenau(which was more expensive but we'll worth it).  The ticket gained us entry into two museums that wach had jist a few rooms, a garden, a courtyard and the sanctuary. The synagogue was beautiful, looked more like a church in the actual sanctuary. Gilded. There was a monument, actually several about the Holocaust. The most touching was a metal weeping willow.

By the time we left it was nearly 430. We have no idea how that happened. We took the metro(Dad got us an all day pass, might as well use it) up to parliament. The building was "impressive" according to dad. I even got him to pose for a picture. But we weren't able to get in. So we walked down the Danube and came across a lovely monument; bronze shoes on the ground. It represents people killed near the end of the war, via arrows, which had them jump into the river(and presumably die).

By the time we crossed the bridge dad was so beat and we realized we needed to walk up a huge hill, or take an expensive funicular to get to castle hill in buda. We chose to get food instead and by the time the meal was over he was done. So I impressed him greatly by using "my machine"(my phone) to get us back to the hotel.
