24 hours in Singapore

We only had 24 hours. For now. This will be our final spot before we return to the US. So we consulted the blogs of my favorite travel influencers and plotted out our day, tripping over each other in the smallest hotel room in Singapore.

We headed towards Chinatown and stopped on the way for some croissants and tea/coffee. Singapore is like a melting pot of cultures and doesnt necessarily have one thing to eat, or to do that is just Singapores(at least not in an ancient sense).  For example, in Chinatown, we went to two temples, an Indian one and a Buddhist one. The Indian one is an ancient temple built centuries ago. The Buddhost one was built in 2012 and is the reliquary for Buddha's tooth. Both are celebrated; the new and old, the different ethnicities, the differing messages. Neither are Singaporean but both represent what is great about Singapore.

While in Chinatown, we got to follow in the footsteps of one of my favorite travel influencers, the wayfaress and hit up our first ever Michelin star meal, at Hong Kong Soya Sauce!  It was roast chicken, and noodle . Joe got rice. It was quick, cheap and delicious. After walking around for a bit, we grabbed a cab and headed to the river safari.

Normally, I do not do aquariums, zoo's, etc while traveling abroad. Living near a world class city and having seen so many in general, it feels like a waste. But first, they called it a safari, which is fu . And second, it was arranged by RIVERS!!  As in the river systems that I taught about for years teaching 6th grade ancient history!  I was sold.

At first I was not a fan, it seemed like a glorified aquarium. And then, we saw the pandas feeding!!  And then we saw the monkeys feeding!!  And then the boat ride opened up and we got to see all sorts of animals along a fake river!!!  It wound up being an amazing experience!!! And to top it all off we ended our time there with Ben and Jerrys!!

Hopping back in the cab, we head to the one thing Singapore is currently tly known for, the gardens by the bay. We did the skywalk through the Superbloom, which was so so scary(and both Joe and I are scared of heights...) and both of the conservatories which were unreal!  We ended the evening watching the light show at the super bloom and ate down there. We wanted to truly end the night grabbing a sri k at the marina sands, the iconic hotel with thr ship on top by cousins were recommending. But I already fell asleep twice during the light show.

Luckily we will be there again!!
