Bus to Malacka

We left our hotel in a rush. We didnt quite time it right. But we were happy to leave, as it was not the best way to start off a honeymoon.

We boarded a bus where there was full legroom and began our 4 hour journey to Malacka. We twice got off the bus to attend to some type of customs at the border. It was kinda strange too, everyone just kind of stood up when we stopped without anyone receiving instruction . Perhaps we were the only ones who were newbies. The second stop we had to take all of our luggage with us to screen.

Other than a stop, the bus trip was blissfully uneventful.  We hadn't yet gotten out Malaysian currency, so even though it was near 3pm and we hadn't yet eaten, we had to continue waiting. Everything at the stop was cash only.

The bus brought us directly to the hotel. It is one of the main fixtures of the town. It is situated right across a small river from the main attractions.

We were greeted with cold towels, a ginger ice drink and a leaf that welcome Mr. Lefxowitz.  We felt welcomed. Our room was palatial compared to the singapore hotel with a tub and a balcony on the river(the hotel was called Casa del Rio). 

We took a walk to grab some food, and since we still.had no money could only go to Wesrern places. We found ourselves at Sid's Pub. I had spaghetti carbonara and Joe had a pot pie. It was a cute spot on the rivers edge.

We next went on a hunt for a 7-11 to take out some money and found ourselves on the Jonker walk, a street filled with places to eat and buy. Most areas would call it a pedestrian street but they did allow cars on it. We got to 7-11, and got the much needed aircon and the much needed cash and went back to check out the hotel pool.

We were so full from the afternoons meal we headed out for a light meal Armed with cash and a website that listed the 8 things you HAVE to get at the market, we hit up that same Jonker street for some street food.  Quail eggs, satay, and fresh made watermelon juice were some of the many items we tried!!

Again, as the last two days, before I knew what was going on, my eyes kept closing on me and we headed back to the hotel for our first lovely nights rest!!
