Monkeys are at risk of no longer being my second favorite animal.

We started cashing in on our honeymoon package. So far all we had "cashed in on" was some flowers and a swan towel formation on the bed and a pickup from the airport.  Today we were cashing in on our 8 hour tour to to anywhere and our romantic dinner.

We had it planned so that we would leave around 1130 so we could do the sunset at Tanah Lot, a water temple about half an hour away west and would be back at the villa at 730. The other thing I wanted to do was go to a temple called Uluwatu at the southern most point of the island. I did the Google maps. Uluwatu was like an hour away. Not only did I think this could be done, but I thought other things could be added as well. I forgot to account for the fact that there isn't a road close to the ocean that runs parallel. Also, TRAFFIC.

At 130pm we finally arrive at Uluwatu. We are hungry, so we grab some fried rice and noodles before we hit up the temple.  We don't think our driver liked this as he wanted us to do this touristy thing in the beach a bit farther up. We headed into the temple complex around 2.  There was a sign that warned that monkeys could take cameras, cell phones, and glasses. We have heard these warnings before, but never reading glasses, just sun glasses.  We find some monkeys early on, and just like we have seen several times before on this trip they were quietly munching away, very docile.  We got a cliff view and then headed toward the temple complex, which was built into the following cliff.  Joe in particular just loves looking at the waves crashing in.

There are tons of people here, which is never fun but we did enjoy the views. (For instance. There was one spot, the shot posted on Facebook, where we had to wait for two different girls each do like 10 poses alone, neither of them smiling in any of the pictures).  We spot a statue in more of a wooded area and as we arrive we notice we are there alone. We settle in to take some pictures.  I backed up against the railing and all of a sudden I feel something swipe across my face.  A monkey has taken my glasses. My real prescription glasses. I scream and Joe looks up. I tell him what happens. As he come from the side I try to follow in the front and keep him in my vision. More monkeys start to crowd around.  Two come towards me from different angles.  I sternly say stop.  At this point, both Joe and o realize that this is futile. A group(the one that those girls posed a million times) is watching this and shares their sympathy. We think to alert the ticket people who quickly alert this blue shirt person. Apparently these blue shirt people are supposed to be managing monkey to people interactions. He goes with Joe to scold the monkey but even a few minutes later, the glasses are gone.

We get back in the car around 345 thinking we are still heading to Tanah Lot for sunset. By 5pm, we look at Google maps and see we are barely past the airport. And sunset is at 615. We are not making it to Tanah Lot.  We think maybe we will hit up Canguu central but then it starts to rain. We head back to our hotel 6.5 into our 8 hour tour having come home with less than we started with and having visited one place.

We arrive back and ask if we can move our romantic dinner up by an hour(having it initially scheduled for after our tour).  There were 4 options. We wound up ordering Italian, an abomination in Joe's mind, simply because it was the best of the options(there was one spicy seafood meal, full vegetarian and a spicy Indonesian meal).  They delivered it to the villa and decorated the pool and table with lights and flowers.  It was an amazing effort. The pasta was pretty good but the rest was ok(the pizza got cold quick which hurt it's appeal).  They also included a cake that just didnt taste right.

Joe exhausted from our day fell asleep on the couch before 9pm.
