We started the day a bit late but since nothing opens in spain before like 9 minimum it wasn't much of a loss. We went on one of those free europe tours. The guy was incredible. He was funny, smart, knew a ton, and knew how to take the piss out of himself and everyone else.
We finally made sure julie had her siesta. Which was good because she was ready to bite my head off until she got some sleep (but was very apologetic once she awoke).
And then we got ready for our tapas tour. It was three different places that served different tapas and a drink at each place. One olace, el museo de Jamon served nothing but ham and cheese. Incredible!! We then grouped up with a few others and made a little pub crawl of our own! Didn't get back to our apartment until almost 2am.
Was so nice to feel like a proper traveler! At least my type of proper! At everyone of these places, this is the typical conversation flow. You ask where there are from, share coincidences if there are any. Share where you are going and where you have been, trading tips and stories. Maybe ask what they do. If you hang out for more than a few hours or change venues you might ask their name even though you usually refer to them as their nationality.
Between feeling very uncomfortable in morocco pre accident to go out a ton and post accident putting myself on lock down for fear of crowds; It was nice to be among the people again. Met some israelsis, a really cute Scottish guy, an Argentinian girl and a guy from Uruguay. It was great to be a social vutterfly, even if in my state of walking super slow and visible bandages I had to explain my story to everyone.
Madrid overall has been really great. Cooler for sure, feels more like my kind of traveling and I felt so safe. But I don't know how much of that came from being with someone and am a little nervous about being alone again in barcelona.
Well at least I had a proper day of touring and night of socializing to send me off!!
